Optical Laboratory Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:
Optical laboratory Technicians fit in the glass into the eyeglasses frames that were prescribed by an ophthalmologist, or optometrist. They set up the machines to polish and fit in the glass. Some ophthalmic technicians work in optical laboratories, but many work in retail stores that have optical departments.

Salary: $15,000 - $20,000

Education:
Students need a high school diploma or a GED, and then begin optical laboratory training. This type of training is available in vocational school and community colleges, training last from six months to a year.

Reflection:

I wouldn’t like to work in this type of job I just don't feel it and I aim a little higher than putting glass into eye glasses frames. Not my thing, but there are people than would enjoy this job but that’s just not me.
