Optical Laboratory Technician
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Optical laboratory Technicians fit
in the glass into the eyeglasses frames that were prescribed by an ophthalmologist,
or optometrist. They set up the machines to polish and fit in the glass. Some
ophthalmic technicians work in optical laboratories, but many work in retail
stores that have optical departments.
Salary: $15,000
- $20,000
Education:
Students need a high school diploma
or a GED, and then begin optical laboratory training. This type of training is
available in vocational school and community colleges, training last from six
months to a year.
Reflection:
I wouldn’t like to work in this
type of job I just don't feel it and I aim a little higher than putting glass
into eye glasses frames. Not my thing, but there are people than would enjoy
this job but that’s just not me.
