Perfusionist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Percussionists manage equipment during
medical situations, temporarily and artificially replacing a patient’s
circulatory or respiratory functions. These situations occur during heart
surgeries and similar operations. Perfusionists also control the patient’s
temperature during surgery along with; operating heart-lung machine,
administering anesthesia and some types of medicine.
Salary: $50,000
Education:
High school student should take
challenging courses in biology and chemistry. Some college work needs to be acquired,
as well as experience in respiratory therapy and medical terminology, for
acceptance in perfusionist training. Must attend; perfusionist training program
at academic health centers, medical schools and universities recognized by the
American Academy of Cardiac Perfusionist.
Reflection:
I would like to become a
perfusionist because on the hands job, you aren’t dealing with the basic stuff
you are dealing with the legit operation and having the capacity to having a
patient’s life in your hands. I know it might sound wrong because it kind of
like a rush knowing that everything depends on you and the capability of the surgeon.
